With spring right around the corner, what better activity to participate in than spring cleaning? However, spring cleaning doesn’t just have to be left to your home or vehicle.

During the winter months, due to the colder temperatures, the lack of sunlight, and the holiday-overload, it’s a good time to check in with your mental health and energy as well. Give yourself a good spring energy cleanse while the rest of your space is being looked after, hm?

Reiki benefits mental clarity, relieves anxiety, alleviates the symptoms from chronic illnesses, and helps with physical and mental relaxation, just to name a few of the benefits.

In a report HERE, it was noted that 13 peer-reviewed studies between 1998 and 2016 using Reiki as at least 1 form of therapy in 4 randomized, single-blind placebo-controlled studies, and 7 randomized double-blind studies with human participants and 2 studies using rats, showed that Reiki was more effective than the placebo, in both pilot studies, and clinical trials, looking at both the short-term and long-term applications of Reiki. Specifically when dealing with anxiety, chronic illness, physical and mental relaxation and Physiological responses.

Reiki is shown to be effective both, in person, and when applied distantly, when aiding in temporary pain relief, relaxing stiff and aching muscles, alleviating chronic fatigue, assisting in finding relief from insomnia, and so much more.

At Owkiaj Serenity, in particular, while we specialize in distance Reiki, and work with healing the whole body, we do encourage our clients to continue to get regular check ups with their doctors, dentists, and mental health care providers. As Reiki Practitioners, we focus on energy and getting to the deep root causes of pain and chronic conditions that can take time and effort on the client’s end to resolve.

A seasonal energy cleanse, if you aren’t already having a Reiki session with a practitioner, is a great idea to add to your tool kit. It’s great to have a full body reset to start the new season off right, and clear your mind and spirit for the coming quarter. Mental fatigue can slow the body down, which leads to body injuries.

Even if you can’t make it to a certified practitioner, we all have life force energy inside of us, you can take a few minutes to yourself, and at least recharge your own energy, in a way your body is comfortable with.

Find a comfortable sitting or laying position.

Close your eyes.

Place one hand over the center of your chest, over your heart.

Place the other hand over your belly, near or over your belly button.

Take a deep breath in, through your nose, breathing deep into your belly. Holding it for a count of 4.

When you exhale, slowly exhale. Through your mouth, for a count of 6.

You’ll want to repeat this deep, belly breathing-slow exhale through your mouth for a minimum of 3 times. While your hands are rested on your chest and stomach.

Try not to let your mind wander. Just focus on your breathing.

If you find your mind wandering – think about where you feel the breath in your body. If you feel any aches or pains – try to breathe into those pains, until they vanish.

If you feel a sense of calm and peace, maybe you feel like you are floating, relax into it.

You can stay in this state for as long as you like. There is no rush.

Welcome to spring, I hope you are all feeling refreshed and recharged.
